questions about convertinvg 302-5.0 pease help

here is the situation i have a a 92 f-150 with the 5.0 and e40D tranny.

last week i lost compression in the #2 cylinder probably a bent exhaust valve fromt he exhaust leak. but there were metal chunks in the pan.

so.

I have the first 302 that was in the my ranger that is a hydraulic flat tappet cam (Crane cam 364381 specs are 488/488-226/226-108 lsa.) now from research i have heard that this cam will not work with the computer becasue of a little too much duration and not the right lsa. also the motor is an older motor so the proted heads are not ported for egr system.

question is what do i have to do to get this older motor run in the truck the stock computer.

possible areas of concern.

using factory distributor would i have to change gear?

egr?

can i bypass egr?

cam?

basically i am on a tight budget and it needs to run by monday.

please an help will be appriciated.

you might better off doing a limited repair to the stock 302 (not a full overhaul). its worth tearing open and at least checking out. you could get a low mile head assy out of the junk yard or throw a valve in yours if the head isnt trashed and cylinder isnt tore up.
