Exclamation To go dual exhaust or not, that is the question

hi all. i have a 2000 mazda b4000. i'm wondering if putting dual exhaust with flowmasters and mandrel bent turndown tips would be a good idea. i've heard rangers with dual exhaust out the regular pipes and they sounds crappy. does anyone know how it would sound? would there be power gains? should i go with one flowmaster instead? thanks for help

I have that exact same setup on my 99 4.0L. It sounds pretty good for a v6, I think a little better that other v6 setups I have heard. I opted to go with the Flo. 40 Series and I wish somewhat that I had gone with the magnaflow.

I ended up going with 2.5" from the cat to the inlet, and dual 2.25" exits, if I were you go with the 2", I would imagine you would get a little more performance than out of a 2.25 exit.

I agree, 1.75-2 for duals is a better choice.

I have the 40Series Flowmaster on my 98 4.0 ranger...its got its own unique sound...not like a ricer and not really like a V8.I cant really explain it but, I will say that its far from crappy ...I get complements all the time.

How do you have your mufflers set up? or should i say 1 muffler. Is it a single in dual out? I"m thinkin about going flow 40's, 2 mufflers 2 high flow cats, true dual exhaust. this wouldnt make things too quiet would it?

I have two small mufflers tucked side by side just after the cat and I like the way it sounds - I admit to some bias.

I went with a single 2.25" pipe and I've lost a little low-end torque. So I definitely would not use dual 2.25" pipes. These engines are fine tuned and there are fine lines that you don't want to cross with airflow. I love my Magnaflow though...a little better gas mileage and unique sound.
