Sluggish after short idle period

I took my family out to the wild animal park yesterday, I stopped to talk to my dad who was following us. I let the truck idle while I was out, when I got back in and started to drive away I thought "oh, I left the parking brake on!" that's the way the truck felt in the front. Was only a minute or two but very sluggish when I tried to drive off, I parked it and we went to have dinner and it seemed fine when we left. Does anybody have an idea what's going on here? anybody else experience this or similar?

How long did you let it idle (in minuutes)? Could be it loaded up (wet stacking). There have been several posts here on idle time. General consensus is to idle only long enough to let turbo cool down then shut it off unless you have an automatic idle control (AIC) to keep it up at 1000 rpm. Normally it will idle about 650 rpm.

Bump...

I would like to know what wet stacking is also is anyone would be so kind. Good first-time diesel owner question. Also, can you only buy an AIC at the dealer?

When a diesel engine is lightly loaded, like idling, it never reaches full operating temperature and unburned fuel deposits build up inside the engine. This condition is commonly known as "wet-stacking". Over time this will dilute the oil deposited on the cylinder walls placed their by the piston rings, leaves unburned fuel in oil, etc.

How BIG a problem is it?
Nobody knows - or at least I have not seen anything but anecdotal proof...
