OK so today I had an accident while coming home. It was completely my fault so no one else will be paying for the body damage to my truck. I've always been pretty good with engines but no on taught me body work.
The damage was to the left (driver side) corner. The hood and the left front quarter panel(?) and the bumper. I figure they need to be replaced not repaired. When looking on line what are these parts called? I has looking on Motor Haven and it all looked Greek to me. The light assembly is fine just the hood bumper and left corner.
The bumper itself looks OK it was pushed over toward the right some though. Can the bumper be removed and the mounts bent back into position?
the truck is a 95 F150 super cab 4X4
Still waiting to post the pictures, I cannot find the stupid wire to hook to the computer.
New question though, the passenger door does not open now. It was a 5 mph or less could the body have shifted or did I probably bend the frame?
Wow, only 5 mph and the passenger door won't open. If it was a unibody, I would say it wouldn't take much to damage areas far from where the impact was because they are designed to transfer the energy in a collision throughout the vehicle. Don't know if you have frame damage or not. You would have someone with frame manuals and gauges measure it for you to be sure, or find a truck like yours and take as many measurements as you can, then measure yours. Make sure you make some diagonal measurements. Possible you swayed, twisted or diamonded the frame, but think it would take more then a 5 mph impact. Did the door gaps change at all? Have to ask someone that has more experience with frame alignment then me. Here is a site with a few illustrations and part names but it is fairly vague. http://www.parts.com/partlocator/ind...=1&catalogid=2. I have a collision estimating guide if you need more specific part names or numbers, but would have to know what parts you are looking for.
