Sure...That's why a well-stocked garage has a large selection of hammers, a Crescent wrench, various pipe wrenches, lawn chairs, a cooler, bailing wire and duct tape (in assorted colors).

That's my middle name

Break it, fix it, bend it, melt it, etc etc etc etc.... "Jack-of-all-Trades"

PS> I'm a computer engineer by trade.... But love my tinkering...

A pair of vice grips and a roll of duck tape, a must have for any redneck engineer!

To me it means repairing something down and dirty with anything that you happen to have on hand. I may or may not last, it's probably not pretty, it's improvising at its finest. 'Junk Yard Wars' is a good example. Bubble gum, bailing wire, and duct tape are some of the staples of this type of repair.

thats what i do for a living. its called keeping way to much junk around the farm when somthen breaks ya route through it casue ya no in there theres that one peice that will work perfect ya grab a big hammer give it a tweekeing grab the welder weld it in cover it up with assoretd collors of duct tape and wrap it in baling wiring just to make sure. a good repair will be stronger then factory work twice as good as factory cost half as much and be ten times more ugly and ya will be prouder then a dad seeing his new born kid.

Aint that the truth, and whats with all of the trendy people making purses and wallets out of duct tape? they took a perfectly useful technique for fixing stuff, and turned it into something tacky!!!!

Oh yea, dont forget JB Weld, thats another redneck invention, a two part epoxy glue that can hold together an engine block!!! that kicks A$$

if you read the package on jb weld it has what people say on it. One farmer says "Its even better than bailing wire. I laughed for about 10 minutes straight when I read that.

To me it means coming up with something that will work better than anything else you can buy...that was supposed to be made just for that job you're redneck engineering.
