Hello there

Iwas wondering if anybody could tell me after a psd is warmed up do you have to wait for the light to go out on dash for glo plugs or can you start it right up.

The glow plugs actually stay active for longer (maybe a minute or so) than the wait to start light is on in order to preheat the cylinders a bit until the block and head start to warm up. If you watch your voltmeter or watch the brightness of your lights at night you will be able to tell when they go off. I have 206,000 on mine, replaced the glow plugs 3 1/2 years ago and do not wait for the "wait to start" light unless it is cold and the truck needs the time for the glow plugs to work. My truck started all winter (some sub-zero weather) without being pugged in at all.

Yep - I'd wait for the light! If you're already warm, it'll only take a second to go out - but personally - I always wait.

believer45 is right guys...
The Glow Plug (GP) light signal controls the WAIT TO START indicator light located on the instrument panel. When the light goes off, the engine is ready to be started. The light comes on every time a key on reset occurs. On-time normally varies between 1 and 10 seconds. WAIT TO START light on-time is independent of glow plug relay on-time because the glow plugs may stay on to improve performance until engine reaches operating temperature

Glow plug & remote start?

I want to put a combo alarm and remote start on my future PSD. I've seen threads reg. how long the starter should stay engaged, either using tach wire or delay timer. But how does the remote start device know to wait for the glow plugs to be at right temp before activating starter? I don't want to damage my truck if I use the remote alot. It's not to cold where I live even in winter but I don't want to hurt engine.
