I love a good scary movie. I haven't seen a good one in a long time. Most seem to rely on blood and guts to make it scary, but i'm looking for ones that really get to you. Any suggestions? What's your favorite scary movie?

The Sixth Sense scared the @#$% out of me and my wife when we watched it at about 11:00pm in the top floor of our creaky old house. I still can't watch some of the scenes over again!
The Sixth Sense was a great one, I really liked it. I haven't seen The Changeling. I'll look for it, though. The Ring was supposed to have been a really scary one, but I wasn't all that impressed. Fear.com was also hyped up to be really scary, but what a load of c**p that was! The first Jeepers Creepers had a few parts that had me covering my eyes (and peeking through my fingers), but overall wasn't that great. Jeepers Creepers II was dumb, not scary. Then, there's Freddy vs. Jason. What a laugh! I do have to say I liked hearing the "ch, ch, ch, ch.." when Jason was around. Man, I remember that sound from watching Friday the 13th as a little kid. Boy was it scary back then! Couple of years ago, I rented all of the Hellraiser movies and watched them back to back, all alone. Those were pretty full of blood and guts, but I liked them. Got good and scared a few times. The earlier ones were much better. Come to think of it, I dont think I've ever watched The Shining all the way through. Maybe I'll pick that one up, too.
Wasn't ever impressed w/ Sixth Sence, nither was I impressed w/ The Shinning. A good older one is Night of the Demons (part 1). The Ring made my neckhair stand the first time I watched it in some parts, but not really scary. Also, a really good thriller (not too scary, but awesome thriller, best I've ever seen) would have to be What Lie's Beneath (w/ Harrison Ford). Gothica had it's scary parts (plus, it had Hallie Barry, which is always a plus )
Dawn of the Dead was cool too. Cabin Fever and 28 Days Later I dont believe should even be mentioned in a thread titled "Scary Movies". Exorcist was good too.
When you mentioned Stir of Echos, I got that image of the fingernail snapping against the floor, worse than nails on a chalkboard, gives me the heeby jeebies! Good flick though!
