bronco2 caught fire today what happend?

i was having starting problems with the b2.so i went to pep boys and got a fuel pressure gage.i hooked it up.and turned on the key but did not start it.it had 35 psi but would not hold.in just a sec.or two it droped to 5 psi.so i cranked it up and the gauge went to 100 psi.i shut off the engine.and took the vac.line off the fpr.this is when all hell broke loose.with the vac.line off i cranked it up.and WOOSH,FIRE thank god i had a fire ext. in the truck and i put it out fast.there dont seen to be any fire damage just some black marks on the dist. cap.what do you think caused the fire? and i guess that meens the fpr is bad. i did not want to find out this way.

Gasoline has a flash point of minus 25 degrees farenhiet and is explosive from20 to 70 percent concentration. When the pressure gauge blew it probably sprayed all over the engine and then almost any spark will ignite it. I would also check if there is a block in the return line or if it's been crushed.;

sounds to me like the fuel came out of the source of vacume for or from the FPR. that is one of the ways they typically go bad and it also why the fuel sprayed.
