Gauges spike and go off

The dashboard gauges on my 97 Expedition die intermittently. I can tap on the dash and they come back on. Is it a bad connector on the rear of the dash??

This is a known problem, with a fix involving removing the panel and soldering a connection. If you perform a simple search, you'll find the posts addressing it.
