I just bought a 04 f150 supercab stx, 4.6 4x4 with a 3.55 limited slip rear end. I was wondering how good of an off road vehicle. I am mostly comparing this to my 01 exporer 4 door. Mosy of the off roading is down muddy/rutted logging roads and in the snow here in michigan. I will be using it to tow my snowmobiles and to get back into the woods to hunt and such. Your thought on the capabilities of this rig would be appreciated. Thanks
I don't think anyone can really help you on this one since it is such a new rig. But all the car shows and magazines have really nothing but good things to say about the trucks. Although you can't really rely on sources like that you'll have to wait till people put some miles on these trucks to see how good they really are. Petersons 4Wheel & Offroad built up a new F-150 it might intrest you a bit. They fit 37's with a 4 inch lift so thats not bad. You'll just have to see. All the new trucks come with more of a street tire so maybe to make your truck more capable look into a good set of all terrians or mud terrian tires.

I think, compared to your explorer, The F150 is more capable off road.
