Dana 24 Xfer case conversion

Dana 24 Xfer case conversion
Just got the boys 75 F250 home and I am trying to determine what parts/gear ratios, etc. we have.
It's a four speed tranny (model?)with a Dana 24 Xfer case.
I've never worked on the Dana 24, is it gear or chain driven?
The truck is now a full time 4wd set up( meaning there are just caps installed where hubs would normally be, I want to convert it to Lock out hubs, does this Xfer require any mods to do this?
It sure does shift easy though, my 205 shifts so hard I usually have to take off my seat belt and stand on the seat and kick it to get it to go out of 4H.
If it's not convertable I'll probably switch it to a 205.
