153 Certfied Net Horsepower @ 4100 RPM.
This truck is a 1958 model year, which was built on December 9, 1957.
Off by 3 months, and ten days.
Wouldn't the date he's asking for be a late 1958 truck? Kenny, do you know what months the last trucks of each model year rolled off(or at least a guess)? -4speed
Thanks This is titled as a 59 but I thought it had the 58 look sure didnt guess it was built in 57!
So what would the code for 3/19/ 58 be.. 19C ?but what for the second year production?
4-speed,
The 5th character of the Vin number denotes the model year. In this case, there is an "8". That makes the truck a 1958 model year.
Like Barry has stated, the production of each model year, actually began during the previous year.
For example... production of the 1960 model year actually started in 1959. The 1960 model year production overlaps from 1959 into 1960.
Ford seperated their production month codes into two seperate categories ("First year" & "Second year") to account for the overlap.
To find a truck built on 3/19/58, you would need a 1958 model year, with a date code of "19Q".
Good questions Pilot_34, 3/19/58 must be your birthday. I have been trying to follow this for that reason myself. I was born 1/19/59 and My truck is a 1960, model year "0" date code "13E". I'm not sure but I feel I'm pretty close, Close enough for the novelty of it . I think about 6 month. Your within 3 thats pretty good.
Some states will not allow a vehicle to be registered as anythig but the year it was first sold in.
Go figure.
Originally posted by pilot_34 Ok if I understand it right it was built in 57 as a 58 model so why is it titled as a 59 model? Just late in getting it sold I suppose?
