Emergency Hand Brake Question

Hello again eveyone,
One of the many things I need to do to get my 52, F-1, on the road is to make sure I have brakes. I will be rebuilding the master cylinder this Sat. My question to anyone who may know is the connections of the emergency hand brake to the lever in the cab? When I started work, I found that the emergency cable had been disconnected and was laying in the back of the cab. The cable has a yoke on one end with the cable covered with a sheathing and on the other half, a bare cable with a threaded bolt, welded to the end of the cable. At the lever in the cab, I see a hole in the bracket, below the handle, however, I could not figer out how to attach the cable, to the lever. This is one I guess a person may have to look at to answer, but I though I would see if any one could describe to me the attachement from the two rear cable lever to the cab lever.

In a side question, I will be needing to replace the two exhaust tail pipes from the mufflers, entended to the rear bumper. I live in the Orlando area. The muffler shops I have called of course tell me that they will have to cut and bend the pipe for me, however, this is at a cost of around $150.00 for the two tail pipes. For two pipes less than 6 feet long with a bend, this seams high. Any suggestions before I blow my kitty for the truck?

It sounds like you are missing the U bracket that screws onto the cable.

Wow,
thanks "jniolon" for the nice pic. This answers the question, and gives me a start where I had no idea. Also, thanks 51 dueller, you are correct. The next step is to find this missing "U " bracket.

Yall have a good one!

Monte; I think the term is (clevis),which has a female 5/16 fine thread on one end and a 5/16"un-threaded hole on the other to except a pin and cotter pin.A bolt and self-locking nut can be used if you don't have the pin. The cable should have threads on both ends. The cable is held in place at the handle assy.by a (C) clip .like the ones used on the brake lines. I hope this helps . Jim VA.
