I am getting close to having a pretty complete '66 Camper Special. But, I just got a '56 F-250 from my grandpa. It's all there but will take quite a bit of work. I was wondering if anyone has any advice before starting on the ol' blue beast. I was also wondering what colors these came in. I've seen a few and they were all blue, any other original colors? (red, green) The truck also has front and rear bumpers that hold water for a better ride, these couldn't be original could they? Any comments appreciated.
I've also got a hand me down 56 F-250 that's been in the family since new. It was Nocturne blue, B code exterior and interior, with a Colonial white grill. I'm not sure what color the wheels were originally, but I'm pretty sure they weren't white from some old B&W photos. Could easily be blue. Here is a shot of the interior with a good indication of the color.
As for the bumpers, my truck never had anything like you describe. The front bumper is plain steel, painted black originally. The back bumper is a heavy duty diamond plate steel rig that probably weighs 200 lbs. I think it was originally natural metal color, possibly silver.
Ryedog,
The available colors for the 1956 ford truck line are as follows:
Vermillion, diamond blue, nocturne blue, meadowmist green, platinum gray, goldenglow yellow, colonial white, meadow green, raven black, and a primer color.
Colonial white is what was used on the roof on custom cab models. It was also used for the non custom cab grills and on the wheels of the f-100 models. All wheels on f-250 and larger were painted black.
I would love to see a pic of the water filled bumpers. I show nothing like what you've described in my brochures.

The bumpers were also painted black on all models, includind the custom cabs. Chrome bumpers were not a option in 56. A chrome grill was an option.
