Just bought 2000 F-150 XLT 4X4. Trying to find out as much info. as possible. First F-150!
1. Whats the difference if any between E40D and 4R100?
2. I have 7700lb.GVWR package. How is this different from other F-150 packages?
3. The F-150 emblem on the tailgate says "F-150 7700". Is this common for this package? Haven't seen any other truck with this emblem. All others are just F-150.
4. Whats the best maintanence book for this truck?
As far as I know there are no real differences between the E4OD and the 4R100 but someone will probably come along and prove me otherwise
The 7700 package is the same as what they used to call the F250 Light Duty. You have bigger axles, brakes, heavier springs etc than a normal F150. You also have 7 stud wheels as opposed to the usual 5 stud.
All the 7700's have the emblem on the tailgate.
When you say maintenance book do you mean repair manual or?
Well, the Ford factory shop manual is the best, but they're quite expensive. I think I paid $185 or so. The electrical schematics book was an additional ~$65. The "Driveability and Emissions Manual" is additional.
You can get a CD copy (on eBay) for alot less. Might be pirated though, if that bothers you. I figured I'd spent enough!
