I got my new grill gaurd today, and got it on (after 3 and a half hours of expletives and getting creative), but there is one question I have. I cut the sides of the air dam off and removed the steel bar behind the air dam. I remember reading in other threads that this bar is a new addition on the 2002 trucks. Do I need it? I'm not concerned as much about the air dam, because the rubber splash gaurd (I think that's what it is) is held in place by the center part of the air dam. The truck drove home from my buddy's house with no problems, but I just wanna make sure it'll be ok without it.
Thanks!

2002 F-250 Lariat, 7.3L PSD, 6 Spd Manual, 4x4 Off Road Package, Line-X Liner, black grill gaurd, soft tonneau Cover, plenty of mods planned, no money to do it yet...
I'm thinking about taking that bar out, cutting it up and making it into a front end reciever hitch. I will have to cut a notch in the middle of the air dam but I think it should turn out clean. The front end hitches available for my truck conflict with the fog lights, so this is my solution. Does anyone think this is a bad idea?
