c6 slow to go into forward when cold

I have a '72 F250 with a C6 transmission. When I first start the truck after it has been sitting overnight, the transmission will not shift into forward. I have to put it in gear and rev the engine up for about 20 secs before it will shift into forward gear. It will go in reverse immediately after starting but not forward. It does not really feel like it is slipping, because there is not any attempt at moovement, then all of a sudden it just takes off and is fine after that.

Is there anything I can do, or should I take it to a transmission shop?

My C6 did the same thing. I was told that the seals had hardened up.

I poured a big can of Trans-X in there and it worked fine for over a year before I finally had it rebuilt.
