Hi, I'd like to upgrade a 2026 XLT F350 to climate control if it's practical. Has anyone swapped out the heater controls for a climate control and if so, could you explain what's involved please. Would doing so void the warranty?
Chances are if you have any HVAC issues after the fact, they won't cover said issues under warranty. So it won't completely void the warranty but it will likely void the warranty on the HVAC system.
I don't know if there's a writeup, but I do know some guys have at the very least looked into it, and maybe they'll chime in. But it's not as simple as swapping the controls.
The Dual-Zone climate control you're after has a lot more parts to it than the basic HVAC system - there's two blend systems to allow the driver and passenger to have their own temperature selection. There's multiple temperature sensors to actually make those WORK. The computer has to be updated to know that it has those capabilities. And if you want the cooled seat functionality that Lariat and above DZCC has, you'll also need cooled seats.
It's not straightforward, it's labor-intensive, and I can't say for certain but I wouldn't be surprised if the parts are expensive. It's one of several reasons why I just went with a Lariat to begin with.
Thanks for that info. I would have bought a Lariat if it was an option but Ford don't make SuperCabs in the Lariat trim unfortunately. Anyhoo, I don't need dual climate control or cooled seats or anything like that - just plain old climate control like I have in my '06 that just does auto-temp control - set it to 70 and that's what it will maintain, using heating and cooling as appropriate, if it's available. If it isn't then I'll just live with the manual controls but keep an eye out if there's a development in the aftermarket.

Yeah I understand your dilemma. I learned long ago that SuperCabs weren't for me - I had one, never quite had enough room back there for what I was trying to put back there, so I have since steered toward SuperCrews. The extra 6" of seat made baby/booster seats fit properly when he was that small, and now that he's 6' and so are all his friends they've got plenty of leg room back there...and when I'm NOT hauling them around there's plenty of room to put whatever I need back there.
Should be a couple threads about guys doing 2023 XLTs to have auto temperature control, involves changing the controls , adding a temperature sensor and some programming.
Like mentioned above, without changing the entire HVAC you won't get dual zone climate, have not seen anyone attempt that.
