I don’t think those had refrigeration units. FWIR the Good Humor man who was outside my grammar school, had chunks of dry ice that would steam when he opened the doors.
Theres a guy I see often who drives a 50 something Ford ice cream truck, shows and party’s, and he has dry ice as well.
