06 F250 Tracking down front end grinding/grumbling
My 06 F250 was involved in an accident a few weeks back. Lady blew a stop sign and hit the center of the truck while traveling at 35mph, resulting it the rear axle being shoved backwards and the truck being spun 180°.
I replaced the rear axle, U-bolts, rear driveshaft carrier bearing, and rear tire. The truck tracks down the road straight, runs excellent, basically back to the way it was, except...
The front end has a nasty grumble/grinding in it, which sounds like it's coming from the passenger side. Imagine it as having a truck in 4x4 while on dry pavement, but throw in some metallic clunking/grinding for good measure. It does it primarily when turning left, although it'll come and go even driving straight.
I pulled the passenger hub and replaced it with a new one. Pulled the locking hub out to try and isolate the issue, but it still does it with the locking hub removed. Front driveshaft looks fine, feels tight.
The front axle was not touched in the accident, although the truck pivoted on the axle when it was spun.
Any ideas? Heres a few pics from the hit.
