1953 King Pins in 1949 Axle
I’ve been working on tightening up the front end of Henry. For some reason the previous owner included a 1953 king pin kit. While putting in bushings in leaf spring pack, I noticed front passengers kingpin is loose in axle. Looks like the pin is moving in the axle not the spindle. The factory 1949 king pin is 0.8125 OD and 5.975” long, the 1953 king pin is 0.857 and 5.860 inches long. Do these work with reaming the axle and spindle to size to fit new king pin?
I don’t actually know what’s wrong yet, will take it apart tomorrow and see where the play is.

I haven't heard of anyone reaming the axles for this (that doesn't mean it can't be done, just that it isn't a common pathway). The more common path is to use the proper set which is available: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...486988&pt=7340

I understood. First thing is to make sure you have good new parts and that the tapered locking bolt is tight. Should that not work, the standard practice is to line bore the axle larger and sleeve to original size. That is a simpler operation involving less work compared to machine the spindle and axle for a new oversized pin.
