Wiring harness

I bought a new alternator to VR wiring harness off of Denis Carpenter for my 65 F-350 and realized when I went to install it that it is made for trucks with the starter solenoid mounted to the fender, my solenoid is mounted to the firewall. I looked to see if a 1964 harness would fit, but the only ones I could find had connectors for a generator and didn’t quite look like it had the same setup as far as the wiring itself went. Should I buy a 1965 dash to engine harness to pair with the alternator harness and then move my solenoid to the fender, or should I modify the harness to fit my current wiring? Is there much that changes in the wiring itself from 64 to 65? I’m leaning more to getting a 65 dash to engine harness and moving the solenoid, but mainly because the current dash to engine harness is going to soon be replaced anyway. It’s pretty rough. Would doing something like this be possible, or does too much change between the years?

It's doubtful that the harness you need is re-produced. Try looking for a harness for a 1965 4WD it should be close to what you need. Or look for an aftermarket harness that is for converting a 1964 from a generator to alternator.
