Truck only starts while OBD2 is connected.
To make a long story short, ive been having issues with my truck for over a year. I originally thought it was hpop related. I put in a riff raff hpop in it, new oem ipr and icp. Truck would randomly surge and studder after all of that was installed, and sometimes die like I shut the key off. (Majority of this would happen at idle, rarely while driving) it would also have very hard starts.
Then about a month ago I went out to start it, and all it would do is crank. No smoke, nothing. I am getting fuel as well. I have a driven diesel electric fuel pump on it. Pump is on and has fuel at the rail.
I ordered a OBD2 scanner to check my pressure and such at cranking and the truck started.. still having the original issue of dying and studdering. But it DID start..
So I tried removing the hydra tuner I have and that didnt make a difference either.. (truck ran significantly worse actually..)
After performing a buzz test i do have the following:
P1272 cylinder #2 high to low side fault
P1274 cylinder #4 high to low side fault
If this was all truly injector related wouldnt it just misfire and not just die like I turn the key off? And wouldn't it still start? (Also, injectors probably have 20k-25k miles max)
I even tried a different IDM. I still had the original crank no smoke no start issue..
I am really stumped with what is going on here.. I hope its just something dumb..
If anyone has some insight on what I could do here, I would greatly appreciate it!
2 nd 4 souinds like a wiring harness issue to me or UVCH, going to take some work to look into it
ohm out with chart in this link

Swap PCM relay out with one next to it? Relay contacts can wear out after years.

Sorry, forgot to post the year.. its a 96, I cant remember for the life of me what injectors are in it..
Thanks for that chart. that is probably the next thing to do.
