505 CRO Oil System Treatment

I purchased a used 2005 Ex with a 6.0 with 52,000K 15 years ago. It’s stock and the only problem I ever had was a bad main engine wiring harness. All fluid levels have been maintained at recommended intervals. Have used 3 different engine oil during my ownership. Amsoil, Rotella, and Motorcraft. I currently have 280,000 on the odometer. I’m not experiencing any issues at this time. I was wondering if there are pros and cons flushing the engine with ATS Chemical 505 CRO Oil System Treatment? Or is it an if it ain’t broke don’t fix it situation?

If you've kept ahead of oil/filter change intervals, I wouldn't do it. It will be fine without, and you could have some bit of crud come loose and cause issues.

If you haven't kept up on oil changes, same risk and the crud (and issues) would likely be bigger.

My $0.02 .

Thanks for the input. I was concerned about the possibility of foreign object damage to the injectors.

Hang on, the posted / shown product 505CRO they say is for Oil treatment, so Doesn't go in the Fuel tank to tidy up the fuel system, including the fuel injectors, 505CRF is their Fuel treatment product.

Be careful what you pour into either & don't exceed the chosen product specified % treat rate.

Chevron Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner is safe for us to use at up to the 1oz / gal treat rate which is about 10x the pump gas treat rate & usually gets the job done in one tank if we run most of the treated tank out before refilling.

If we have a Diesel engine, Chevron has a diesel Techron D recipe that's safe to use as directed, PDSDetailPage.aspx

Wait to change the old fuel filter until after using a tidy-upper if we suspect the tank is dirty.

The Techron products are safe to use as directed, effective, less costly & can often be found discounted even more.

More thoughts for consideration.

Thanks for the opinion. As stated it's a 6.0. Out of an abundance of caution, If I were to treat the crankcase, I woud use a crankcase designated product not a self mix recipie. Post oil and filter change I would plan on a second new filter at 500 miles.

I too am not a engine flush guy, just too many uncontrolled variables that can cause serious mischief. As you posted, don't fix what ain't broke.

All that said, if the itch to know how things are in there just won't go away, next oil change have a look-see through the pan drain hole & maybe a valve cover access, with a fiber optic camera to get an idea how the top & bottom ends look, could be done without much risk.

Thanks, before considering crankcase flush I wanted to reach out to the community to see if there were any positive or negative experiences to factor in the possibility. Nowadays with A.I., hearsay, and fake reviews the Ford Truck Enthusaista forum members are the only trustworthy source for information. At this point I'm sticking with why create a problem where there is'nt one philosophy.
