2014 F-550 6.8l V10 CNG conversion using 2017 F-350 6.8l V10 for parts
Can anyone tell me if using a 2017 F-350 v10 will be compatible with doing a CNG removal from my 2014 6.8L V10. I can use the fuel tank, fuel lines. My question is will the fuel rail, injectors and ECM be compatible for my project. Thank you
Well actually the 2017 has 170000 miles on it while the 2014 CNG has only 18000. My plan is to use the 2017 fuel system, intake and ECM. and put it on my almost new 2014 engine. I bought a salvage E450 cutaway to use on the conversion. Cross your fingers this works. As the project moves on I will provide updates. The CNG system was installed by BAF out of Dallas Texas and the tanks expired.
Ford's last year for its workhorse 6.8L Triton V10 engine was 2021 , though it was phased out of consumer trucks earlier (around 2019) and continued in commercial applications like school buses until then
The CNG truck is a service truck from the Washington DC water district. It only has 18000 miles on it and looks almost new. I am currently pursuing a wrecked 2017 F350 minibus for [arts as it is cheaper than sourcing the parts need separately.
I am not sure of the run hours but either way I am going to convert it. I went to the local Ford dealer and they don't have a clue. I bought a fuel rail w/ injectors and harness and am looking at a fuel tank from an 06 F350. Aft rear axle. I believe it will fit. Does anyone have thoughts on that? I also plan to replace the ECM with one from a V10 gas job. Project is moving along.
