If anyone can help me find a fuel tank skid plate for my EX, I'd be grateful. A chunk of it fell off recently. It was on the list of things to be replaced, but I was honestly hoping I wouldn't need to replace it this soon Would appreciate your help. FWIW, is it safe for me to keep driving the EX for my local commutes? For now, I am going to fill just about 1/2 tank or less to help reduce the weight of the fuel from causing more damage.
It may be too late by the time I can help. I have a perfect spare I want to have powder coated then install in place of my existing one. I checked all the pull a parts near me, no X's on their lots currently. These are a bear to pull in the yards too.
Yeah mine looks worse! It lead me to find more rust behind the tank. Gotta love ford rust!! I'm going to get one custom made instead of looking for a replacement from another old truck. Good luck though

I know there's a couple in a wrecking yard close to me. I'll be visiting one soon to get a couple things, but I remember seeing that intact last time, but this is down in Houston so shipping might be a killer...
when you get a new tank guard,
invest in some FLUID FILM coat it inside first, with a spray gun or these cans.
then when it is installed, coat it wet.......
that will stop rust dead in its' tracks.
it comes in 12 oz cans, gallons, and 50 gallon barrels....
.
I buy these six at a time, they will do a great job for you.
spray inside every hole, and crevice under you truck, inside door panels, inside the frame, and it will live forever.
Eric 'O up in upper New York, buts it by the barrel, he pressure sprays his customers vehicle with it...
he showed a truck he sprayed 10 years ago, resprays it every 2 years, and the frame looks factory new.

I've reached out to a few shops on car-part.com and they are asking $300-$500 shipping for a $100 skid plate. i understand that shipping costs have gone high, but this is either one of those I don't want to ship sort of pricing or purely gouging. I am ready to pay a decent price for a good one to be shipped from the south. Let me know if you find one and then I can figure out.

Yes. That is the plan for the entire under carriage. Thanks for the pointers. I had done the under carriage of another SUV a couple of years ago, and the same shop will be under coating this one as well once it is ready.

The yard that had the 2 said they went to the crusher...sad given there were still alot of good parts on the maroon Limited. I do see another yard across the street showing to have another 2...one of which is a white/beige Limited. Looks like they go anywhere from $100-$250 here in south Texas. I'll call Monday and see what they say.
Do you know the seller? I reached out to him last week. He doesn't want to split the pieces - tank and plate, and is hesitant to ship. Hoping to find just the skid plate somewhere, soon.
