China Tech - EV's etc

The future is now in China. If we in the US don't keep up we will never catch up.

Is that why Chinees citizens were flooding the southern border trying to get into the US illegally between 2021-2024, and still flooding the UK, Australia, New Zealand, EU, etc?

It is well known Chinese government pays western looking content creators to make pro-China videos like this to drum up their image and spread soft power. One of their key audiences is older well off westerners especially retirees who don't know how the country actually runs. If you actually go there and visit areas outside the shiny show case Central Business Districts, you will see why their people are desperate to leave and go anywhere else.

I would insist Ford and US automakers in general get their quality under control before trying anything fancy like flying EVs and what not.

Americans visiting China have been saying that since the 1990s ever since they started pouring massive amounts of government backed investments into building their first tier cities. Of course the parts of their infrastructure that foreigners are likely to see all look shiny when everything is demolished every decade or two and the resultant rebuilding based on real estate speculation adds to their GDP growth. Underneath it all is an ongoing real estate collapse that has wiped out two generations of ordinary citizens' life savings while their gen Z people still can't find jobs or afford homes. Hey, at least in the US, baby boomer aged retirees in their SFHs on large lots in the suburbs are seeing their real estate investment values not only not going down but instead skyrocketed in the last decade, so there is that.

Thirty years later my neighborhood keeps having more and more recently arrive Chinese immigrants who just wanted to get the hell out. When Americans are leaving in droves to apply for work visas in China, let me know. Until then, my only advice to Americans of a certain age who are in awe of China's "progress" is that don't respond to any social media requests from attractive young chinese women who contacted him by accident but super impressed with his knowledge of China. LOL.

I have multiple neighbors some of whom I consider friends who are actual immigrants FROM China who tell me about the rampant corruption, wasteful government spending, heavy handed government interference in private businesses, intentionally building up their industrial including EV overcapacity to undercut American and European traditional industrial brands, horrific environmental practices, unchecked poison in their food supply, and that's before political repression that makes Venezuela look...cool.

But yes, by all means, let's all believe a tourist who was shown the best parts of China and youtube influencers who are almost certainly on the CCP payroll through their extensive overseas propaganda apparatus. My neighbors and friends must be all confused why they even left, why they left Shangri-La and now stuck in America, how terrible they must feel. LOL.

@WDXPW

i have a close friend who routinely travels to China and South Korea for business. He also tells me how far behind we are technologically. Even the Ford CEO, who drives a Chinese EV as a daily driver, is impressed with how tecnologically advanced China and South Korea are compared to us.

Watching multiple videos where tourists post travels to China they all say the same thing as your friend. I’m impressed with how Guangzhou and Beijing have become so advanced.

One year ago in China new car EV sales exceeded 50%. In major cities new car EV sales are even higher.

Of course there are many depressed areas in China just like in the US. Here previous high tech areas like Flint or Rochester, NY have fallen way behind.

Can you imagine what would happen to the Big 3 US car manufactures if we open the US to Chinese EVs with no import taxes or tariffs.

Look at this bar graph where we fall compared to other countries in EV sales as a percent of new car sales.

President Biden's 100% tariff on China is the only thing stopping them from taking over the EV market.

Global drone tech has fueled our investment anti drone defense systems. Over the past three years of wartime over there, it has become glaringly apparent that drones are capable of engaging war and causing havoc to a major "superpower".

Better drone tech = advanced drone defense.

Much of that sounds just about like our country too. Just saying... I could add other bad stuff about our country too, but that would get the thread censored or locked.
