Is the new screen required if we already have the 8 inch one? What are the benefits of the newer version of Sync?

It depends on your Ranger’s year, 2021–2023 models won’t receive a new screen, while 2019–2020 models will. The HD 8″ upgrade offers a sharper display, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, built-in GPS, and full OEM functionality.

I have a 2019 Lariat. My screen has full OEM, built in GPS already. Sounds like the "upgrade" doesn't do much for someone who's already got the larger screen.
