Vermont October 2026 BS - time to carve the pumpkins and get ready for winter
.Been awhile since I checked in with all ye fine folks......

The last 5 weeks have been a work my butt off and long road trip time........
First, I spent 3 weeks working long days getting the Montana 5th wheel ready for a trip down the Heartland Texas area.
Needed to finish up some interior remodeling work. Install a new awning along with all new hardware. Installed the Ford towing package that came with my 2021 F-350 DRW PS 6.7 diesel that I never got to.
Had to have BigO install the tire pressure sensors in the wheels. I installed the rear camera on the Montana and the tire pressure sensor receiver on the Montana and a sway sensor. There is now a second pig-tail from the Montana to the truck. The truck already had a 12-pin receptacle built in next to the standard 7-pin receptacle.
Took 6 days to travel from Great Falls, MT to Heartland TX. EVERY day we had trouble on the road.....
The lights on the trailer quit one afternoon. No clearance lights, no taillights, no brake or turn lights. The truck message center said I had a failed "Trailer Lighting Module". Stranded at a Love's Truck Stop north of Denver. Found a Ford dealership to look at it. They seemed to do a very thorough job. Could not find anything wrong. Good news, but then what ???? Also, good news..... They did not charge me a cent
"Navy Discount". WOW
So, I started on the trailer (Montana)..... Expected a bad ground.... No, all was well. Double checked that. Then God put in my head a thought to check the light bulbs..... Hun.... How could a light bulb cause a total failure ?? Started at the rear. The factory tail lights were incandescent bulbs... Not them. All other blubs are LED and two tail-turn-stop-back-up LED fixtures on the rear. Then I remembered the starboard rear clearance light had been damaged while in the drive-way. The Lense had been broken at the little LED blub had been damaged too. I had replaced the Lense and the blub still worked, so I left it.
I pulled off the Lense and then when I pulled the bulb, everything worked fine. The socket looked good. Put the bulb back in and all lighting quit and the truck displayed a "failed Trailer Lighting Module" message.
Pulled the LED Bulb again, everything worked correctly.

That was a 2 day delay..... One very nice thing; With the robust solar system I had installed a couple of years ago, The parking lot "camping" was very comfy. No generator needed ay all.
Next.... Starboard-rear tire on the trailer exploded going along down the Interstate at 70 mph. My fault and BigO's fault. I forgot that tire was different than the other 3 tires. When I had BigO install the Ford tire sensors, I mentioned that the tires were Sailun 14ply H rated that took 110 psi air pressure. Just put in 100 psi. The odd ball tire that I had forgotten about was a 10 ply E rated that took 80 psi. BigO didn't check and filled that tire to 100 psi. The wifey was following in her care on this trip. Finally got to the RV park where I setup the Montana for a long stay. Lynn (wifey) had purchased a nice deck from a past tenet that would sit next to the trailer. You would just walk out the door of the trailer onto the deck. The deck had stairs to go onto the ground. Well, that would not work with the Montana Due to slide-outs and storage compartment doors. I had to build a "bridge" or walk-way from the Montana doorway to the deck 3 feel away. Not a big deal, but just another chore on the endless list. Had to build a handrail on the side of the deck that would have been against the trailer, but was 3 feet away. The stairs needed a handrail built too. I spent 3 days taking care of little things before leaving Monday afternoon to drive back to Great Falls with two little doggies. I arrived back home Thursday afternoon. 2 1/2 day travel time and 1600 miles. Two nights at a rest area.
Lynn is staying in Texas with her little doggie. This coming spring we expect to put the house on the market, and once sold I will finish loading the 40ft shipping container with household stuff. The container is on a 40ft flatbed trailer. Tripple axle with a Pinal hitch. Gross weight capable of over 21,000 lbs. I'll tow that to Texas and then we will work on finding a new home.
Have some fun today...... I have to get busy, much to do to get this house ready to sell.
