If it brings that, Abe will be happy with the units he has, and unhappy with those he already sold.
I don't have any more NOS mirrors. The one I bought and sold later to Ken Newman was in better shape. It was in the box in my basement workshop and never put on my truck.
It has a lot of shelf wear. The extendable arm should be bright, the big washer and bolt head at the bottom should be bright. I looked at his other items, he has some crazy prices with a lot of Japanese WWII swords. And a lot of Chevy NOS parts.
Some exuberant sellers are overpriced, some are under priced and some charge a fair price, and we all know who’s who.
I recently paid $450 each, for a pair of beautiful NOS 51-52 6” mirrors . Obviously it’s a high price but fair. For me it was worth it , for me it makes the truck!
52Flthd,
You are right. Prices are relevant to a persons wants or needs. I also have been known to way overpay for something I desire for my truck projects. I am glad you were able to acquire the mirrors for your truck. Everyone has to decide the value to them on items they would like to acquire.
Now on another note. I have two supposedly 53-56 mirrors that are slightly different. Maybe you guys in the know can provide an answer.
The mirror on the bottom has a screw / nut to tighten the sliding arm, and the top has a large ( ferrule ? ) nut to tighten the sliding portion of the arm.
I always believed the screw/nut arm went to the light duty (F100 - F350 )version trucks and the other to the heavy ( F500 and up ) version trucks.
Also noticed the arm mounting brackets have the mountings in different orientation, too.
All opinions welcome. Don
The mirror in the bottom is for 53-55 trucks of any size. The top mirror is for 56 trucks. In 56 doors the mounting holes are diagonally opposite. Why, I don't know. It might have something to do with the new shape of 56 doors . Proper holes could be drilled to use a 56 door bracket with a 53-55 truck and vice versa.
The mirror arms on eBay has the same nut to tighten the extendable arm as the top mirror. I've seen the style of a nut to tighten the arm in 57 and up mirror arms. But also have seen pics of 56 NOS arms with the nut. All the 53-56 mirror arms I have or had, have had the the screw and collar to tighten the arm.
This is the NOS mirror I bought from Abe installed on my '53. It is a nice piece.
Ken, you need this one for the passenger side. It's only $495 on eBay. LOL It is a 56 arm but all you have to do is drill the 53-55 correct holes in the door bracket. Or buy a 53-55 door bracket.

I bid $100 on it just in case no one else did. I have the used rod I bought from Abe with a '57 mirror on my right side. It looks correct except it's white instead of black.
