Always starts on first try. Idling for a few min to warm a few days ago and just died and not starting again.
full oil
new batteries,
new starter,
completely new battery harnesses installed last year,
cranks hard and over 10V while cranking. rpm needle no move, replaced CPS with new one from Ford dealer. still no rpm bump while cranking.
What do I do next?
could someone share the "7.3 no start trouble shooting guide" used to have it. THX. Erwin
could possibly be a fuel pump, if you can check the fuel bowl and make sure its filling up with the key in the "on" position, the one just before cranking, it will run for around 20 seconds. they will run with the fuel pump out but very poorly and won't idle long. if possible use forscan and plug your laptop into the OB2 plug and see if you get any codes could help pinpoint an issue. Also i saw your looking for a connector for forscan, you can use a cheap one like this
no, don't have one yet. will look into it. what's the best OBDII scanner works the best with Forscan for our truck?
Thank you all for ur input. I'll try to work on it after the big snow here in st. louis, 8-12 inches tonight. All, be safe!
last year I purchased the laptop dongle and mx+ or whatever it's called directly from OBD link. I wanted verified/ approved items...however I still haven't learned to use forscan. I have autoenginuity but rarely need to use it.
I know others have used non approved products with success
one of these days, i will see if I can figure out how to use forscan...I'm the type of person that does not like change and does not like to learn how to use new stuff, lol.
it's super cold here in st. louis after recent snow storm. went out today, hooked up the mechanical fuel pressure gauge. it reads 52psi. so CPS fuel pressure are all eliminated. next on the chart are ICP and IPR. I have good parts from my totaled 2000 psd and will use them tomorrow to try.
52 psi is pretty low, 45 is around when you start causing damage to the injectors. Most peoples fuel pressure at idle running is close to 70. Under full load I dont see under about 62.
Thx. What would u.suggest me to do next. Is there a way to increase the pressure or find out what caused the pressure to drop to a level that it stalled?
