I bought a new class C motor home this spring that’s built on a 2024 Ford E450 Super Duty with the 7.3. Love the power that the engine has compared to my previous class C on a Chevy 4500.
The only thing I don’t like is when going up a grade or hill that requires a downshift and RPMs hit 3,800 to 4,000 the engine starts to roar like a jet taking off. Is that normal? Is it the fan kicking in or is there something going on with the air box?
I rented a 7.3 RV this summer and it seemed to have a nearly open exhaust system. Kind of loud but sounded good to me. Not sure this is the same issue though...
Does the RV have a "doghouse" to cover the engine? I don't think a doghouse could possibly offer the same sound insulation that you get in a conventional cab pickup. Not with that much engine, anyway.

There’s a doghouse but it’s made out of plastic. I haven’t removed it but I’m willing to bet that there’s probably little or no insulation.
