I'm not 100% sure but I don't think the brakes got much bigger or better for duallys over the years. In 1999 the stock rim size was 16", and I think it stayed that way for a long time. There were some differences in axle widths and I think brake mounting but actual braking surface didn't really change.

It can be done - I've seen it. I don't know how much work there is to fit the axles to the springs, it seems like there's a bit involved there but doable. Your bigger issue is you'll need 10-lug rims, which are available but harder to come by.

i got the idea to buy a rolling f450 to use as a swap donor if that stuff will fit on my frame.
