I got a 2017 f250 6.2 4x4 with the 6r100 transmission. It grinds very hard going into 4th gear. After checking for codes with forscan and taking it to my local dealer, they said it’s most likely got a issue with the clutch packs or planetary gears within the tranny. With the cost of rebuild being very high, I’m leaning towards swapping it out for a used one from another truck. Looking on eBay and other websites online, I see they list the item as compatible with 2017-18 f250. The 2019-22 have the same 6.2 with 6r100 but for some reason they don’t list these as compatible.
can anyone on here clarify if I’m able to use a 2019-22 6.2 4x4( 6r100) transmission in my 2017 6.2 4x4 as these have much lower miles and can find better deals on them. I can’t seem to find anything online that says if they made any changes or if the 19+ have “gen 2” 6r100. Thanks 🙏
agreed www.car-part.com is the way to go. you type in the info you are looking for, and they will match you with salvage yards in the specified search area listing price, vehicle it was removed from, mileage on the vehicle, and overall condition.
