Vermont March 2024 BS - get those trees tapped because spring is going to go into full hot rage
Happy March Vermont and FTE land. February is over and it was not pleasant if you liked snow. More mud and rain then snow. Now March is here and the first half will feel more like the beginning of April. I'll be super annoyed if we get a big snow end of March when it will be a total annoyance. Hopefully the maples don't bud out early because that will put an early end to the sugaring season. Hopefully that is decent for the sugar producers. Hope you have a great March
Afternoon Jim and it seems weird for me to be the first one in here for a new month....lol. Winter here has been a bust. Normally we have had an average of 81" of snow by now and we are currently at 42" at the airport in Rochester. I know that at my place, it seems like we have had even less snow than that.
Shawn, I wouldn't worry about the weld's appearance. In recent months I have seen weld that didn't qualify as a weld and they were made by a "Professional welder" using a 6k Miller! Yours look pretty good!!
That is a 7.3? I would check the Glow plug module! They are not a common problem, but when they start to fail, that is one of the issues. The other issue when they fail is unusual battery drain.
thanks.. wish i could just run the bead but the welder likes to "float" the voltage and feed speed so its not smooth at all... i just gotta keep doing multiple tacs till i get a strung together bead.. but cant convince the boss to get us a better welder...
yup its a 7.3 the glow plug modules one of them solenoid styles... its supposedly new but still doesnt work.. and i dont know enough about the 7.3's to try and trace if its got a signal wire to follow or see if its even getting the signal to actuate...

You figure out what happened to the 6.Oh-no?
havent gotten a chance to look at it... and this weekends gonna be another busy one... so dont know if ill get to...
spent the day working on my little truck since i had the parts for it. I installed the yellow shocks (bilsteins) on it 13 years ago. Only 1 was still in "working" condition. Hoping the ride will be a little smoother now even though the tires are 14 years old too.
I also replaced the front turn signal socket, the tail gate latch rod retainers and installed these new LED license plate lights. Got tired of the old socket grounds losing their ground. These should be much brighter and since they have a wired ground should stay working now.
Looks like it was a good day Shawn. I’m waiting for ignition components to come in right now. Have to do a tune up on the project vehicle my brother and I have. Nothing like replacing 12 plugs, making all of the wires because no one makes them as a set and replacing cap, rotor, points, and condenser on 2 distributors.
Joyous sunny Sunday morning Vermont, Jim, Shawn, Shaun, Shawn and all the Woodchucks. Starting the day at 44°, sunny and headed to 70° today. Sadly, I haven't been able to enjoy the beautiful weather the last 2 weeks because I have been sick. But my yard sure has and I will have to get the mower out and cut the grass today. It has grown about 6 inches this week and the poor Chihuahuas can't see to walk through the yard!
Shawn, I would look
at the Module and not the relay on the 7.3.

isnt that only on the newer 7.3s? Like 99-03? The one in the shop is a 96.
Morning Vermont, Jim, Shawn, Shawn and Woodchucks. It is Monday morning and we have 15 day to Spring. In my woods we are starting at 42° and headed to 72° and sunny today!

I find it listed on several Diesel sites and 94 and up 7.3 and 6.0. I remember messing with the older 7.3's in the Ambulances but I don't remember what the Pre 99's module actually looked like!
