Okay, I guess if we use it then it'll stay up near the top and be easy to find.

Good morning guys.

The rain (heavy enough to hear) and the wind passed by us around 9 PM last night. Called our boys and neither had lost power or had other issues due to the storm so everything was good on our end. Hopefully the big dry up/out will start today. I need to get the rugs up on the porches/dog decks and get all that drying up so it can rain on them again Friday night. It's that time of the year.

No plans today, for me. Just wade through the swamp to get to the dog pen. I'll have to dig my back up outside shoes out and wear them. Last trip to the pen yesterday I sunk in over the tops of the soles on several steps. Nice that it was about 60 F by then. Not cold, just wet till I got back in the house and got the wet shoes/socks off. That pair of shoes likely won't last out the summer. They're going on 6 years old, or so, and I've glued the toes back to the soles a couple times Steel toe is showing through on the left toe pretty bad (always drag that foot getting up as I can't put weight on my right knee down on the ground.

Colder but sunny today the man said (yesterday,)

Have a great day guys.

Was going to see if I'd get again but, Jim beat me to it. Thanks, Jim.

Steel toes make the feet cold in the Winter. I've got a pair in a 79 SCab that only have been there over 20 years

Just got a call from son, no power at his place............about 4 miles away.

Good evening guys.

Stepped over to the old truck (youngest son's) to set up the little black cat feed dish for the night and it was gone. Blown clean out from under the south side of the truck over to the north side. Didn't realize the wind was blowing so hard. The food bowl is a tray our of a hose reeler, not light weight at all. Also sank into the dirt on the south side far enough to catch my attention and make me wonder when it was going to stop. Jumped into quicksand (or something near enough to it to scare the snot out of me, twice in my life. Anytime I step and my foot starts going down it gets my attention and I start trying to grab onto something.

Yeah, rain on top of the wet ground from the last two rains. It's that time of the year. You get it when nothing is growing and then in the late summer we can go several weeks with no rain.

Still got my old Corcoran jump boots in the attic at mom's Got out of the Army and put my greens, blues, TWs and shoes/boots, raincoats, etc. in a couple good sized boxes. Dad took my fatigues and wore them out. Khakis where issues but not allowed to be worn where I was stationed and I'd given them to my dad three years earlier. He wore those out, too. The jump boots and white gloves are probably the only thing up there I could still wear. And have no desire to wear either.

Did you guys have to spit shine your boots/shoes? I spit shined my boots for almost 4 years. Got so good at it (did it so much) that I used mess with the new guys. They'd get the directions to use cold water (ice cube in it) and shoe polish and cotton ***** or flannel cloths to spit shine. And we make them practice and practice (had to build up that base on the leather to cover the lows and highs and get that glassy looking shine anyway.) While some new guy was doing the accepted/directed thing trying to make his new boots look good I'd go to the pop machine downstairs, buy a Nehi strawberry soda, walk upstairs and sit down at a table. I'd pop the top on the can, pour some in the shoe polish lid and start spit shining my boots. It would blow their minds. That part was fun. We had some fun/good times in the Army but after four years I'd had all the other times I needed and got out. Never did wish I'd stayed in. Glad I did it once. Don't want to do it again.

And George brings up taxes.

Have a great evening guys.

Good morning guys.

Restless night for me and the boys. Must be something (virus?) going around. My wife's been running to the bathroom for a couple of days and now I started last night. No fever, aches or pains. Just making a trip to the bathroom every little bit. And the boys? Coyotes. I was hoping the one I saw a night or two back was just passing through but I've seen two or three tonight while looking out back with a flashlight when the boys were upset and running the fences. One came up through the yard within 10 feet of the dog pen fence and passed through between our house and the neighbor's house. Not very big (then again, my dogs are big) but he was in a hurry. Saw a couple more (maybe the same one twice) down in the back lot near the woods. Been seeing a few rabbits in the back yard lately and I guess they're looking for a tender rabbit to make a good early morning snack.

Bible study for the ladies this morning. I'll probably be ready for a good nap by then. They can get a little loud but I've sat here and slept through some of it before.

Hope we get today and tomorrow with some sunshine and enough wind to do a lot more drying out before the rains come again Friday evening/night. It's still pretty swampy out there.

Have a great day guys.

Good evening guys.

Bright and sunny all day. Had to have dried the yard up some but it still felt mushy in spots going to the dog pen and back. Supposed to be a repeat for most of the day tomorrow and then get cloudy later in the afternoon and rain for a few hours.

My wife bought a "bread machine". Made a loaf today. I ate too much. Just two buttered (lightly) slices but it was still too much. Feels like I've got a gut full of rocks or something. Took a lot of coffee and ice water to wash it down. Maybe not enough butter? It was so smooth/fine it was almost like a cake. I like that stuff with the chewy/crunchy grain bits in it. I need to look for some different flour.

Have a great evening guys.

Good evening guys.

Sunny at first, then cloudy, then when we came out of the church school gym after watching the boys JV basketball game (another win) play a team from NC. It's pretty wild watching how quick/agile some of the smaller guys are. There's was couple on the team that must burn up a bunch of calories every game. They seemed to be everywhere from one end of the court to the other. Good game, they were ahead for most of it, got 2 or 3 points behind about the end of the 3rd quarter and then were about 10 pts. ahead at the end of the game.

Had to visit with the boys in the dark and the rain after we got back from the game. Lucky was a very good boy. Didn't try to jump up on me a single time. Got their biscuits, a very small amount of chin/ear rubbing, food pans filled up and I was back out the gate and heading for the house. Sure hope the coyotes have found a place to get out of the rain tonight and stay there all night.

Have a great evening guys.

Good morning guys.

Supposed to be sunny today, partly sunny tomorrow. Not really warm, but it is winter time. I've got an INR Tuesday morning. I wonder what the roads will be like? Might get to try out the AWD on the car in some snow/slick stuff. Had it three years (maybe 4?) this summer and we've not had enough snow to stick to the roads since we got the car.

Still have water standing in the low spot in the gravel in the driveway. Must have rained pretty good again last night.

Have a great day guys.

We had a bit of rain and wind last night. Had to really push on the storm door to get it to open, so the pup could go out. Not much coyote action around here lately. But, did find what was left of a couple of neighbor's chickens in the side yard last Summer. So something got them.

Sensational Saturday morning Virginia, Jim, Evan, George and all the crew. No sun in my woods today but I do have some of Ma Natures white sheet falling. Windy all day and we started the morning at 30° and we are now down to 28°. George, I have 2 Great Pyrenees at the barn with the goats and chickens, One Pyr at the house - out front and the coonhound and Lab out back. The Yotes stay far away from me!

As I have said elsewhere today, I have a plan, stay home, stay in, drink Coffee, snack the day away, work on my puzzle and watch the world pass by from my warm living room window!

May everyone have a blessed day, stay warm and enjoy!
