I was driving down the road to church this morning and the truck went from say 5th gear to 1st and locked the back tires up. Pulled over to take a look, couldn’t see anything wrong. After pulling back off it seemed to be Stuck in a high gear, had to have a lot of RMP to move it. My gear selector light went away also. The wrench icon came up with a Check engine light. Made it to church and checked the codes got p0706 and p0707. If anyone else has had this issue and was able to fix it please let me know. Thanks.
Im getting the same codes p0707 and p0706 and already spent $1400 dollars on mechanics but nobody can fix it????? wtf is going on here?????
im about to spend 8,000 on a new trans. They told me it was the valve body. They took the pan off to replace it and said there’s a barring in the bottom of the pan I need a new trans. 🤦♂️
Your truck went into 'limp mode.' Best bet if your truck does this is to NOT DRIVE IT, as you'll only cause whatever is wrong to get worse.
If you can't inspect the transmission yourself, it's best to do as OP did and get it to a shop for inspection.
OP, those codes basically are telling you that the transmission isn't properly telling the truck's computer what gear it is in, so it commands one gear and that's all the truck will run in. There are a great many things that can cause this, and none of them really good. Your shop probably told you it was a valve body because it is a more common type of failure that sets these codes, but once they actually took the pan off to inspect it and found a bearing in the pan, that changes things completely because your transmission was...not doing very well anymore. Few places do transmission rebuilds anymore, and most of them simply put a new one in.
That said, make sure they flush all your transmission cooler lines BEFORE they install the new transmission. If anything is in those lines it could potentially cause your new transmission to fail prematurely.

yeah that’s exactly how everything happened. I appreciate it. I got a new trans on the way.
