I'm being told by a repair shop that I need a new frame. I hit curb whilst the front wheel was turned and bent the lower control arm brackets & cracked the tiny weld where the bracket is attached to the frame.
The frame part number has been discontinued, DL3Z5005CA.
Is there an updated part number or alternate manufacturer of the obsolete part?
I contacted all the major part suppliers i could find on google and none of them have it in stock and ive reached out to a couple requesting an updated part number . My repair shop is having a hard time finding it as well.
Please help me save my blue beast from the grave yard. Its only got 75k miles and a ton of senimental value.
i own a body shop now 19 years and have been in the business for 35 years . that being said insurance companies will not typically repair frames i have pulled and repaired many over the years . now adays when they are bent or cracked they will total for the liability. with the wheel being back either that lower control arm is bent or the frame is sucked in near the rear lower control arm mount . the bracket can be pulled around into shape new control arm and will most likely need to be pulled i would use the old control arm and pull the frame into shape than straighten the bracket and then weld it all back together with some extra gussets to hold the bracket in shape then replace the arm. did insurance total the truck? if so that shop probably cant fix for that company . try another good frame shop they can probably save that frame. i just picked up a 14 raptor yesterday thats why i was in here looking around in this forum . good luck don't give in yet. I've only drove mine for two days but seems like a good truck so far.
Also a former body shop owner specializing in heavy hit vehicles, had a Nicator laser measuring frame puller, up to 6 10 ton rams I could use to realign and pull uni-body vehicles including full frame. That frame damage does not require replacing, just pull back into shape and re-weld as required.
Just curious what's become of this pending repair?
