What are my fan clutch options?
I'm also having trouble determining if I have the bolt on or threaded type.. I can't seem to match up mine with the photos in the Haynes manual ( I have not yet pulled the fan shroud, so maybe that would give me a better view).
Thanks for any suggestions ... see my sig for truck details.

Go with the OEM it will outlast any generic replacement one you will buy. It will also work better.
This is another issue I fought with my Aerostar. The replacments sounded like a jet plane all the time. The fan roared constantly, it would not free up as the speed increased. They would last about a year and start leaking oil.
Coughed up the money for a Ford one, it worked perfectly, no more annoying fan roar. You figure your orginal lasted for years, may as well replace it with the same thing. There are places to get the factory parts with out the ridiculous prices the dealers want.
Sounds like there will be only one choice for an OEM clutch (I'm guessing its the fluid-filled type.

I have bought from jere and saved quite a bit of money over the dealer costs.

I'm pretty sure I have a bolt-on fan clutch .. but the Haynes manual and illustrations on websites show a 5.8L/351w motor taking a fan clutch with a FLAT surface; the fan clutch currently installed in my truck has that convoluted SPRING look to it.
Anyone know which is stock for the 1989 5.8L/351w and if its definitely bolt-on?
