need info on fluid types
My boyfriend is teaching me to do my own truck maintenance and I need some information on truck fluids.
My truck is:
Ford E-250 Econoline Van
5.8 L
Auto
What kind of trans. fluid do I use??
What kind of brake fluid do I use??
What kind of power steering fluid do I use??
My user's manual is useless.

That is a great idea! Then you won't be one of the helpless millions (and there are millions of helpless guys out there, that's for sure!).
Trans Fluid - DexronIII/Mercon
Brake Fluid - DOT 3.
Once it is opened and the foil seal is removed, keep it tightly capped when stored, as it readily absorbs moisture from the air (bad!). Do not drip brake fluid on paint, it eats it! If you DO drip it, flush paint with water fast, don't rub at it with a rag!
Power Steering Fluid - Could be Type F trans fluid, or could be DexronIII/Mercon trans fluid, really need to check the manual on that one.
Most Owners Manuals have a fluids or specification section where they list the fluid types. They used to only list the Ford part numbers for them (like, real helpful!) but I thought they also had been listing the english names too.
