I have a 90 302 thats all stock and has about 6k on the rebuild. I noticed the mpg is slightly worse then my carburetored 76 302. after doing some reading I thought it might be dirty/clogged fuel injectors not spraying correctly. I dont like running stuff through the fuel system. just hot rod it, clear the carbon out every so often.
I came across this video were a guy had a 90 351W with the same problem, poor mpg. he took 3 hole fuel injectors for a 97 Explorer 302 and put them in his sceemed to solve the problem.
I know in theory 3 holes atomize fuel better then the 1 hole injectors. Also in theory the flow rates should be the same for my 90 302 & the 97 302 because same displacement?
id like to know if this has any merit before I order up a set. Thank you.
