The PA Chapter's "No Foolin'" April 2022 Chat and B/S Thread
Long day on the horizon tomorrow so I'm headed to bed soon...therefore - let's jump start the April thread a bit early.
April is here, and for me that means in-field construction work starts to pick up and the last push for the summer show season ramps way up. I have a ton to do and not much time to do it, but we'll figure something out. Hopefully the weather at least starts cooperating. It seems Ma Nature wants to pull a prank this weekend and let Old Man Winter breeze by the area as there's mixed snow, sleet, and rain in the weekend forecast. It won't last, so, just muddle through for a short time and we'll be alright.
If I think of it, I'll put up a comprehensive list of things I know are going on around the state to check out if people are so inclined.
Good morning everybody! My old 360 is playing April Fools with me! I was tearing it down yesterday to take it to the machine shop and have it totally gutted nothing left but......the camshaft will not move beyond the 2nd bearing.....won't even turn at that point!
Hi Pat, how's thing in your neck of the woods? Have a great day!

Can you turn it upside down to see what the trouble is? Or, haven't you got it that far apart yet?

Steve,
I had the engine on my engine stand with every thing but the cam removed. Finally removed the cam, but it was a struggle. I'm really surprised the engine hadn't seized, when I saw the connecting rod and crankshaft bearings......heavy into the copper. I'd be even more shocked if the crank can be saved. As for the camshaft, it would come out to the next bearing surface, hang up and wouldn't turn. I resorted to the slide hammer method, which brought it out to the rear bearing surface where I had to use the slide hammer again. The block is going to the machine shop Tuesday.
