Is this body adhesive from the original production of the hood of my '78 F250 Ranger XLT? The first photo is of the center vent on the bottom of the center of the hood. The second photo is of one of the other central section edges between the under side of the outer skin edge & the bracing on the underside of the hood.
If so, can I somehow renew or otherwise reinforce these spots so that my hood is more solid? Please don't say spot weld. Maybe some JB Weld?
Also, I want to somehow treat the underside of my hood for rust protection. I had it 'bead blasted' recently by a local shop. He did not try to blast underneath the bracing as he said that the pressure of doing that would make the skin {top side} buckle. I was thinking of treating it as best I can with POR 15 Metal Prep & then spraying Eastwood's 'inner frame spray' underneath followed by POR 15 as much as can reach; all only on the underside of the hood. I will have the top side primed & later painted.
Thank you for any expertise/insight/help you are willing offer, as I only know enough to be dangerous!
I can't help you on the Adhesive thing but you proposed plan of rust control needs to be modified. It should be Metal Prep, POR15 and then the Eastwood spray otherwise the POR15 is useless.

Thing is POR15 can't get between the bracing and hood skin that is where the Eastwoid spray shines.
I have used the spray just for that, back side of braces and hood skin.
As for the glue between the brsces & skin it is factory to keep the skin from rattling on the braces going down the road.
I don't really know what it is that you want to do but if the skin is not rattling I would do the Eastwood spray and call it done. Guess you could use expanding foam but don't know how that would play with the Eastwood spray?
On my truck hood I took the bracing out of the skin to fix a dent and when I put the 2 together I used seam sealer as the glue as I had it on hand. Have no issues with rattling in the 2 years on the road.
