Hey guys - been shopping around and looking to upgrade from my 6.0 Powerstroke (yes, I know all about it, but 245k it's been great for me). I've been shopping 2017-19s since they still use the tried and true 6 speed trans, and look great with the modern body style, but with today's crazy prices on used trucks right now, is it worth getting a new 2022??
I initially wasn't looking at them to avoid any 10 speed trans issues (mostly from recall on 2020 trucks), but looks like I can custom order a 2022 XLT for the same cost as a low mileage 2019 Lariat (15k miles).
Soooo my question is very subjective, but is getting a new 2022 XLT built to my specs worth getting over a 2019 Lariat (with tons of the Lariat options) with 15k??
Total price is basically the same, but are the new trucks that much better vs the 2019?
Diesel or gas? Another thing do you like all that driver nanny stuff then get the 22. I personally buy a truck to drive. I dont need the truck to beep vibrate just because I want to change lanes. I also don't need the truck to stop itself. You can rely on some of this stuff to much and in the end it may cost you. If you order a 22 you may have to wait months for it to show up. 15K on a diesel truck is nothing gas or diesel. You can not go wrong with Lariat trim. You can order a XLT but you won't be able to match the upper trim levels
I'm looking at only diesel since I tow 32 triple axle toy hauler. I'm leaning towards ordering the 2022 XLT since it just makes sense, the Lariat trim level options are nice, but ultimately the XLT fully loaded is pretty nice too. I'm not too worried about waiting since if I order one, and waiting 3-4 months kinda works out for me. I like the fact the long bed crew cabs come with 48 gallon tank, and it looks like they changed the upper plenum (on top of the motor) from plastic to aluminum, so not sure why, but I'm a fan of metal over plastic.
My main concern was the 10 speed, but I think they have most of those bugs worked out, and sounds to be much better for towing, which is what I'm looking for.
I had the same question. I found a good used superduty selling for above original MSRP. So I ordered a new 2022 F350 for a few thousand more than a used ond.. I only have 138 miles but am happy with truck. Down side to ordering a new on is the 16 week wait time.
The 2020's and up have forged pistons instead of aluminium as well. And it appears each incremental model year we get better aftertreatment and possibly as a result less soot cycled back through the engine.
Yea, the more I look into it, new is really the only way to go. I am going to work with a dealer and see what I'm looking at on building my own. Only thing I'm worried about is by the time my new 22 gets built & delivered, the 23's should be rolling out. I doubt there will be any kind of discount or incentive on selling 22's since they are so hard to come by. I wonder what 2023 has though, the 2022's look so good, hard to imagine they could make them look any better!
I'm thinking getting Lariat with the black appearance package in gray.
Does anyone have the upgraded 11,400lbs GVRW package on their SRW truck? besides the difference in HD springs, are there any other differences from the 10k GVRW version?
^^^^^
Considering Ford isn't allowing dealerships to order new Super Duty trucks for stock/inventory (only customer special order) in 2022, I wouldn't expect much in the form of incentives from Ford.
However, there are several threads stating that there are dealers willing to accept X-plan pricing and/or discounting off MSRP. In my area though, dealers are selling at MSRP or higher.
I personally wouldn't be concerned if I got a 2022 or 2023 model year...though, I think the 2023 will have some changes...
If you order now, you'll probably get your truck in 3-4 months.

i came from a 2019 to a 22, but most of the upgrades I like are specifics to higher trim level things. So far the 10 speed is good. Not a whole lot different than feeling than the 6 except you feel like it constantly stays in the power band. But if your going to tune it id go ahead and get the 2019 lariat. My 2019 was great for 151k.
you able to get any discount on MSRP when you order a truck?? have heard some got a bit of % off..
