4.6L crate engine

Hey Guys, A friend of mine has made an awesome build of setting a 68 F100 body on a 99 chassis. After getting it all together he has discovered that the 4.6 original to the 99 chassis is 200,000 mile tired. After going to all this work he he would like to buy a 4.6 L crate motor to drop in. Would anyone have any recommendations as to where to make that purchase ?
Or any opinions as to getting one from a salvage yard? or some other option. ??????? any help or advice appreciated

I'm not a fan of wasting time, work and money on a scrap yard engine----what caused it be at the scrap yard in the first place? I guess if one has more time than money chasing a salvage engine is an option but it would be rare finding an engine from the '99 era worth the time needed to do this swap or replacement, IMHO anyway.

I'd personally go with a reman'd engine from a reputable source such as Ford itself, Jasper is another and the name Frasier has been mentioned on FTE several times over the past few years.

Assuming the '99 drive train retained all the stock sensors etc and ECM it should be easy to find a reman'd engine.

Purchased a crate engine from a rebuild shop in the state of Washington. Did some research and found the supplier who offered a substantial warranty, 7 years and/or several K miles. I shopped several sources, read customer reviews, length of time shop is in business, etc; this was 12 years ago and most recent pressure test is favorable. Rather than have a shop install and document installed myself so the warranty likely would have been voided?? ,

I could not find a local auto parts store who offered more that a 6 mo. warranty; in addition, majority of then do not have the equipment or tools so consequently they purchase a crate engine and install themselves?

Finally, suggest going to local charter and inquire if there are any member's in your area who can offer recommendations then research the source>>
