I had originally posted this to the towing section, but nobody responded.
In about a week I am going to have to use a 6x10 trailer to move my brother into his new house. The trailer has a 4 flat connector, and so I need to wire up a 4 flat plug to my truck. Just wondering where to find each of these wires, which ones to use, and maybe some pictures. I have the plug that I need to wire in, and I know what each of the colors go to, just where they are I am not sure. I know the brake light socket has like 3 wires going into them.
Thanks!
Those connectors are the best way to go unless you have weather proof wiring connectors to wire in a plain one. That connector is in the frame under the driver tail light.
Im fine with cutting wires and such, just the location I am confused about.
NO DONT GO CUTTING WIRES!
You are now making a place for weather to get in and eat at the connection to the point where you have no tail lights and wonder why.
Just spend the $20 and get the Tee wire connection and as said un-plug, plug in the Tee and done.
Spend the rest of the time enjoying a cold one (or more )
BTW my parts truck came with that Tee and I used it to wire up my 7 pin connector, trailer brakes & power to charge a battery, and was the best thing I have ever done.
I also picked up a 7 pin to 4 flat adapter for the smaller trailers.

I used the plug in adapter to wire my 7 pin to avoid cutting wires, then added the brake and hot wire. Just use a 7 to 4 plug in for times with 4 flat..
