Temp gauge and sender ohms?

Hi: I'm new to this. I have an aftermarket temp gauge (and probably sender) on my 1960 223/6. I'd like to get back to original gauge but I am having trouble finding a sender with 3/8" diameter threads. Apparently the stock senders seem to have 1/2" threads (1/4" NPT). This brings me to ask then if I need to know the gauge ohms to find a matching sending unit? Does anyone know the temp gauge ohms, or have a solution so that I can use the original temp gauge with a new sending unit that fits into the original engine block 3/8" hole.

Thanks in advance.
