I'm ready to buy channel kits and door glass for my '46 and I'm a little unsure/confused. I want to replace the original glass (with steel edging), with the earlier '40-'41 style glass, without the steel edge. If I do this, do I need to buy a '40-'41 glass run kit? I'm guessing the early kit uses narrower width runs for the lack of metal edging...?
Hoping to order everything up and have it ready, for shorter down time (nice weather) and want to get the correct parts.
I'd appreciate any info/opinions you guys could provide me.
Thanks in advance!
I replaced the channel with a 42-47 kit. There is room for the glass to fit in the channel without the metal frame.
Edit: However the metal frame holds the glass into the bottom of the frame.
I haven't looked at things yet, so didn't know the metal frame edge held the glass to the bottom of the frame.
I was assuming the early and later runs were different...narrower internal width for the glass without metal and wider for glass with metal...? If this is the case then I can see how the glass without metal would fit in the '42-'47 runs. Looks like I'll have to pull things apart and figure it out. Was just hoping to gather some knowledge from those that have done this to make a determination on the differences between the two, so that I can have everything ready to go with little down time....oh well.
Thanks tacomacream, I appreciate your input.
