New guy intro. My name is Jason, live in SE MI. Work for Ford in prototype (automatic transmission). Own 2 F-150s, a 2019 Crew Cab 4X4 and a 1993 2WD LB reg cab.
The 93 was a lucky find- friend of a friend was going to scrap it. Called around and found it was worth $150 as scrap, so he asked around to see if anyone wanted it. I was the 3rd person to look and bought it for $150. Amazingly, we drove it home (about a 25 mile drive). It had been sitting for quite awhile, and had a camper top on it.
The truck needs rear spring shackles on both sides, and some fenders/ wheel arches, but other than that it's super solid. Had running boards, which I think saved the cab corners and door bottoms. It's an XLT, and amazingly even the cassette deck works!
It's a 302/auto. Should be a fun truck to semi restore and cruise around it. The first OBS I've owned, though I've wanted one since I was 12 or so (46 now).
Thanks for reading, and looking forward to warmer weather to start getting things done on this truck.
Right now, get it sound mechanically to use as a driver. Needs spring shackles and I would like to go through the brakes. They work, but after sitting that long, I don't want to take any chances.
Should be a fun project. I've never had a project that I bought running, lol, so this is a pleasant change.
At $150 even if you scrap it you are breaking even, part it out and make a few. Why was the owner going to scrap it? I know the rust is a common thing there with the winters but fixable. How many miles on it?

A friend of a friend told me about it- there was a family death and they were going to have them hauled away for scrap. Instead, they were offered at scrap price if anyone wanted (there was also an 04 Taurus another co-worker bought), so I jumped on it. I figured I'd get it for my (then) 16 year old last year, but with things being how they are I didn't get it titled yet (Michigan SOS has crazy wait times due to the pandemic) and he decided he just wants to keep his Malibu he's been driving. So, it's now 'mine'.
The main thing keeping it off the road is it needs spring shackles. I bought them a couple weekends ago, waiting for a nice weekend we don't work OT so I can get them done. Then it's on to brakes and shocks to make it totally safe to drive. They work, but after sitting that long, I'd like to get them done anyway.
But, I can tell you, I can't wait to drive it. We drove it home from the seller's house, and it seemed to drive really well (ran ok, trans shifted good, etc).
Thanks for the tip! Nice truck- I passed on a similar one (but dark green) a few years ago. A friend ended up picking it up for $2500 (I was told $6500, lol). It's a pretty decent truck, but has more rust than mine.
Congrats on your new project! On ebay you should find pre-bent stainless brake lines for a fairly reasonable price. Drums, shoes, hardware should set you back about $300 and then another $200-$300 on the front. if your pedal is still mushy then obviously look in to the booster and master. I just got done doing all of this on my 1997 f250 4wd which had sat in a barn for the better part of 10 years. Also be prepared to look at vacuum lines and wiring. If you're doing shackles, leafs and springs you might want to look at the RSK super-duty kit. I have yet to do it but some guys on here will attest to the improved ride.

Good luck!
A bud who is into OBS Fords was telling me the same thing about the brake lines. I'll look into it when it gets a touch warmer and I'm more motivated to go outside.
Good tip on the vacuum lines too! I'll definitely have to look at those. Everything under the hood is... nasty looking. lol
