VIN ID

Hi Guys,
Im new to posting on any types of forums here, however they are a huge source of knowledge so I’m hoping I can get some info out of you all!

I’ve recently imported a 1975 F250 SuperCab over to the UK ,so I can rebel against all these new electric cars in a nice V8!
however before I’m able to do that she’s in need of a little TLC.
I’ve done as much reading as I can, when it comes to US motors, trannies etc it’s like it’s a different language.

Could anyone help me identify the truck using the VIN ID plate I’ve attached. They only thing I’m sure of is it’s running a 400ci 6.6 that the original owner had put in, I don’t know why or when that’s all I know. I only found this out after spending a lot of money on rebuild kits to find none of them where the correct fit!

I obviously don’t want this to happen again, so I’m calling on all your expertise so I can order the correct spares for the transmission, differential etc.

VIN Plate

Auto transmission, RWD, 1975!

Thanks in advance

The metal tag riveted to the drivers door has more info than that. The vin doesnt tell you a whole lot but the door tag will.

right on the door tag. you might want to get a Marti Report as well if you want to know everything about it.

should be a '76 with that build date I'd think.

What you can get from the VIN is that it's a '76 model year, 2wd F250 that originally came with a 4bbl 390. If the PO swapped out the 390 for a 400, that means that they also swapped out the translation (or bellhousing if it is a manual trans). Additionally, I always thought super cab VINs started with X instead of F, I don't know much about them though.

With trucks this old anything could have been swapped. Your best bet is probably to get good pictures of most things you want to identify and post them up. Often transmissions can be identified by the oil pan, differentials, by the cover and width, engines by the valve cover shape and number of bolts etc. There's no guarantee that anything will match the vin, especially if you already know they swapped the engine and transmission.

Was there any other automatic option with the 400 except the C6 guys? I'm no expert because I mostly dream of manual 5 and 6 speed swaps, but I don't hear about any others much.

Thanks for all your information guys
big help! Just helps me narrowing down when ordering spares, not the cheapest getting them to the uk!

but quite rightly there are no guarantees what I have matches what the VIN states!

thanks again !
